Residents who want to sign up to the garden waste collection service in Wirral have until May 20th to subscribe in order to ensure they receive the first collection of the new ‘season’ in June.

Households that are being asked to take part in this 10-week trial will receive information telling them they have been selected and what will be expected of them. The trial itself will run from June to August 2025.

Across six events, there was incredible community spirit and partnership working - people of all ages pulling together in an effort to make their neighbourhoods cleaner and greener.

The new subscription period for kerbside garden waste collections runs from 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2026.

The changes come in from Tuesday 1 April.

Volunteers, local schools, third sector organisations and other partner agencies took part in Environmental Action Days to build a sense of community pride in the areas and foster relationships between residents and authorities

From April 1st 2026, it will be mandatory for all councils in the country to collect food waste from households separately to other bin collections.

Wirral has experienced snow and icy weather conditions, and for some areas, the impacts continue due to ongoing freezing conditions.

The Met Office has weather warnings in place with expected snow and ice over the weekend, Saturday 4 January and Sunday 5 January.

Residents in the three EVOLVE Wirral areas joined representatives from the council, Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and other partners in taking part in Environmental Action Days.
