Bin update: When is your bin going to be collected

All bin collections are suspended until Monday 13 January and whatever day you usually have a bin collection – this will be for your green general waste bin.

With milder weather predicted for next week, bin collections are planned to resume from Monday 13 January.

This means there will be no bin collections tomorrow (Friday 10 January) – or over the weekend due to the forecast of ongoing icy weather.

Collections, when they resume, will be prioritising general waste (green) bin collections for the whole borough.

Whether you had a bin collection this week or not, all bin collections between Monday 13 January and Sunday 19 January will be for green general waste bins. This collection will be on the usual day you put your bins out for collection.

If you have any other bins out other than your green general waste bin, please bring them back in, as they will not be collected between Monday 13 January and Sunday 19 January.

Whilst we prioritise the collection of green bins for Wirral, we are aware that this will result in a longer time between recycling collections for some residents, meaning you could have additional waste, especially if you can’t get to one of Wirral’s household recycling centres (tips).

Please bear with us as we try to ensure that everyone’s waste is collected. Any additional bags of waste left at the side of your bin will not be collected as this will slow down our collections meaning we might not be able to collect everyone’s bins – and this is our priority once we resume waste operations.
