Street cleansing
Usual operations are planned to resume from Monday 13 January and resources will be allocated to those areas that need it most initially.
Bulky waste
The bulky waste collection service/ Eric collections is planned to resume from Monday 13 January.
If you had a bulky waste collection (ERIC) booked, you should have been contacted to have your collection rearranged. If the new date offered is not suitable, you can amend your booking online or by calling Streetscene on 0151 606 2004, or can cancel the booking for a refund.
Collections booked for next week (from Monday 13 January) will be collected as scheduled.
If you are getting a bulky waste collection, due to regulations certain collections might be done in two separate pick ups as items such as sofas, armchairs, beanbags and floor and sofa cushions contain Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and are required to be collected separately.
Gritting
Crews have been operational since Friday last week, going out at least once each day, often in the early hours of this morning to minimise the impact of the snow of Wirral’s roads.
Gritters were out last night at 6pm, in the early hours of this morning at 3am and are heading out again tonight.
The crews are also continuing to provide support where they can in other areas of the borough that aren't on the gritting routes.
As with yesterday, crews are being supported by our in-house grot spot teams to hand shovel and grit outside school drop off areas and shopping precincts.
As always at this time on year, teams are continuously monitoring the weather, working with forecasters and assessing the situation so that the crews, who are on standby 24/7, can respond where needed.
Roads
Some areas across the borough experienced flooding, predominantly as a result of melting snow and road closures were out in place earlier this week, however, all roads have now been reopened.
Homeless
Wirral’s Severe Weather Emergency Protocol remains in place across the borough and has been extended until Tuesday 14th January. Anyone with concerns is asked to report via routes below:

SEND Transport
All SEND transport remains cancelled. Families are being contacted directly to advise of this disruption.
Schools
Many schools were closed again today. Each school will advise parents through email or their own social media channels.
The School Crossing Patrol service has also been stood down in line with schools being closed and risks to workforce.
Football picthes
Football pitches will be closed this weekend.
Family Hubs and School Hubs
All Family Hubs are open and pathways to the entrances gritted. Due to the icy conditions the team will only be carrying out essential home visits.
School hubs (Pensby and Stanley, Eastway and Grove Street) are closed with the exception of Ganneys Meadow which is open until 2:45pm today.
Adult Day Service
All Adult Day Services are open but home to centre transport is off and will remain off for the rest of the week. The team will endeavour to do as many welfare calls as possible.
