New year is a time when people make resolutions and plans for the year ahead. Could 2025 be the year you become a foster carer?

Hundreds of local children and young people can look forward to opening a gift on Christmas morning thanks to the generosity of residents, community groups and organisations from across the borough.

22% of schools across the borough are now awarded with a Modeshift accreditation, meaning that Wirral ranks 4th within the list of Local Authorities nationwide (that have more than 100 schools).

As well as a wide range of daily activities, the clubs also provide delicious, nutritious meals and snacks.

The awards acknowledge the challenges overcome and the successes of young people in Wirral.

The Local Area SEND Partnership brings together all the agencies that provide SEND services for families, children and young people in Wirral.

There are some exciting planning sessions going on to help embed the Graduated Approach across Wirral Schools next year.

In September 2024 a large number of new Special Education Needs Coordinators (SENCOs) started work across Wirral’s early years settings, primary and secondary schools, and colleges.

The project uses ‘kintsugi’, an ancient Japanese technique of repairing a broken object often known as the art of precious scars.

This festive period, Wirral’s Family Hubs are bringing joy and support to families across the borough.

Back at the beginning of October, Wirral’s first SEND Preparation for Adulthood Festival took place at the Floral Pavillion. More than 500 local people came along to find out about the support available for families and SEND young people across Wirral!

With budgets tight during the festive season, residents are encouraged to sign up to money-saving scheme.
