Local elections have now taken place in Wirral for 2022.

Councillors have agreed a series of proposals which will see a balanced budget for Wirral Council in 2022-23.

A leaflet about the Chancellor's announcement of a payment of £150 to help with energy bills will be sent out with Council Tax bills this week.

Wirral Council has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award recognising its massive programme for regenerating Birkenhead.

A statement from Cllr Janette Williamson, Leader of Wirral Council:

"As you know if you have seen any news reports the situation in Ukraine remains desperate. Many innocent people are being forced to flee their homes in fear of the disgraceful invasion from Russia which continues to target civilians, women, children, the elderly and even hospital and schools.

The 97th victim of the Hillsborough Disaster, Andrew Devine, will be posthumously awarded the Freedom of Wirral at a special meeting of the Council on Monday 21 March, 2022.

Wirral Council has waived the normal fee for road closure applications to allow people to plan street parties in Wirral to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
