Did you know that Wirral’s Family Hubs aren’t just community spaces for families and children, they also offer help and support for expectant mums and dads to be?
Three out of four primary schools in the Rock Ferry and Birkenhead and Tranmere wards are seeing an increased number of children reaching Good Levels of Development in 2024 compared to 2019.
A partnership initiative is giving families and children with educational and health needs a safe space to connect with other carers and get practical and emotional support. Peer Support Groups were launched by Wirral Council earlier this year, with local charities The Positivitree and Koala North West, and are held in Family Hubs.
The funding is for the development of a new 3G Football Pitch at Clare Mount Specialist Sports College, similar to those based at the Woodchurch Estate or Bidston Sports and Activity Centre.
Parents have to apply for a secondary school place for their child by the deadline of Friday 31 October to give their child the best chance of getting a place at one of their preferred schools.
When the team needed new football shirts, a local business stepped up to pay for them but declined the offer of printing their logo on the girls’ shirts. Wishing to remain anonymous, they simply wanted to give back to the community.
