The summer holidays are here and, if you're already hearing the words “I'm bored”, don't panic - there are plenty of ways to keep children and young people entertained across Wirral this summer. 

From sports and swimming to theatre, crafts, family fun days and outdoor adventures, there's something for all ages and interests. Here are just a few ideas to help make the most of the holidays. 

Get active this summer 

If you've got children who love to be on the move, Active Wirral has a packed programme of activities running throughout the school holidays. 

Active Kids Summer Holiday Club 

Packed with team sports, games, creative workshops and outdoor adventures, the Active Kids Summer Holiday Club is a great way for young people to stay active, make friends and have fun during the break.

Active Allsports 

Designed for children and young people with disabilities or additional needs, Active Allsports offers a range of inclusive activities in a supportive and welcoming environment throughout the summer holidays.

Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme 

Eligible children and young people can enjoy free sports, activities and nutritious meals as part of Active Wirral's Holiday Activities and Food programme.

Family Swim Sessions 

Make a splash this summer with family swimming sessions running at leisure centres across Wirral. It's a fun way to stay active whatever the weather.

Soft Play and Tag Active 

From climbing frames and slides for younger children to action-packed Tag Active challenges for older children and teens, Bidston Sports and Activity Centre has indoor fun covered.

Drama, singing and summer shows 

Stage Ed West End Summer Club 

Does your child love singing, dancing and performing? Stage Ed's West End Summer Club gives young performers the chance to build confidence, learn new skills and put on a show inspired by the magic of musical theatre.

Jay and Joss: It's Not A Game

Summer of Music 2026 

Birkenhead is set to host a Taylor Swift-inspired attraction celebrating music, culture and community when the Speak Now Installation Tour arrives. 

It will be in Pyramids Shopping Centre food court from 24 July-31 July, while there will be performances and actives organised by community groups Rising Tides Music Centre and Future Yard. Click here for more info.

Make the most of Wirral's parks 

Summer is the perfect time to get outdoors and enjoy Wirral's fantastic parks and green spaces. 

As part of Love Parks Week, families can take part in activities, explore local parks and discover some of the wildlife, nature and community spaces right on their doorstep.

Creative fun at your local library 

Looking for something a little different? Wirral Libraries have put together an exciting programme of summer activities for children and families. 

From rap workshops and music sessions to crafts, storytelling and puppet shows, there are plenty of opportunities to get creative, learn new skills and have fun. Many activities are free or low-cost, making them a great option for families during the holidays.

Free family fun days with Family Hubs 

Family Hubs are hosting free summer events throughout August for families with younger children. Information is provided in the Family Hubs summer programme.  

Sessions will take place at locations including the Walled Garden in Wallasey, Birkenhead Park Visitor Centre, Bromborough Family Hub and Seacombe Family Hub, with lots of fun activities aimed at children aged 0-5. 

Alongside these special events, Family Hubs continue to offer a range of regular activities including Stay and Play sessions, Baby Play groups and SEND-friendly activities for families who may need additional support.
