Wirral Council has led the regional partnership for the Step Up to Social Work programme for eight cohorts, successfully training more than 225 social workers.

Extra care housing schemes allow residents, who meet the eligibility criteria, to remain independent for as long as possible with individually assessed care and support on-site.

Those who successfully complete the course will be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work.

Families across Wirral are set to benefit from an additional year of support as the government confirms a funding extension for the Families First for Children (FFC) Pathfinder.

Successful applicants will gain hands-on experience in a real-life social work role through placements across Cheshire and Merseyside.

The AbleMe team can offer information and advice to families, alongside help with personal care, taking medication and more.
