One of the country’s most-touted, up and coming singer-songwriters is coming to Wirral next month as live music returns to Birkenhead Library.

The stage will be set up between the bookshelves on Sunday 10th September as the library hosts a special matinee performance from London-born, artist, DJ and model, Iraina Mancini.

The Birkenhead show is part of a 14-date tour of the UK she is embarking on in support of her debut album, ‘Undo The Blue’, which is released this month and contains the BBC 6Music playlisted singles ‘Cannonball’, ‘Undo The Blue’ and the latest single, ‘What You Doin’.’

Iraina’s sound is described as ‘atmospheric, dark, cinematic dream pop’ with ‘powerful emotive melodies and anthemic choruses’ and her influences range from Mazzy Star, Portishead and The Cure, through to French artists of the 60s such as Serge Gainsbourg and Francoise Hardy.

Vintage cinema plays a huge part of her sound with lush strings and atmospheric dream like sounds.

Collaborators on ‘Undo The Blue’ include Wirral’s own Miles Kane, who co-wrote and co-produced the track ‘Sunglasses For Jaws’ on the album.

The show is promoted by the not-for-profit organisation, Get It Loud in Libraries, which is an award-winning project designed to give people who love music the chance to tomorrow’s stars today at their local library.

Since it started in 2005, GILIL have promoted high quality gigs at libraries in towns and cities all over the UK, including shows by Adele, IDLES, Self Esteem, Blossoms, Sam Fender and Florence + the Machine.

Iraina Mancini plays at Birkenhead Library on Sunday 10th September at 2.30pm. Tickets are priced at £11 (including fees) and are available at https://www.seetickets.com/event/iraina-mancini/birkenhead-library/2717316
