Members of the Environment, Climate Emergency and Transport Committee received an update on Wirral Council’s progress towards meeting carbon emissions targets it has set for itself as part of its aim to be carbon ‘net zero’ by 2030.

Wirral has experienced snow and icy weather conditions, and for some areas, the impacts continue due to ongoing freezing conditions.

The Met Office has weather warnings in place with expected snow and ice over the weekend, Saturday 4 January and Sunday 5 January.

The Queensway Tunnel lighting refresh project is now complete and the milestone was marked with the official switching on for new LED lights.

We're looking for local people to become a School Crossing Patrol to help children cross the road safely on their way to or from school.

Young people from local primaries have been given a boost to get them to and from school quicker and more safely.

Projects that are focused on preventing and reducing carbon emissions are in line to benefit from grants being offered by the Zero Waste Community Fund.

Thanks to local residents 559 small seedling-sized trees have been adopted and will be planted in gardens and land in Wirral.
