Parents across the borough are reminded that applications for admission into Wirral primary schools next autumn must be made by Wednesday 15 January 2025.

22% of schools across the borough are now awarded with a Modeshift accreditation, meaning that Wirral ranks 4th within the list of Local Authorities nationwide (that have more than 100 schools).

The Local Area SEND Partnership brings together all the agencies that provide SEND services for families, children and young people in Wirral.

There are some exciting planning sessions going on to help embed the Graduated Approach across Wirral Schools next year.

In September 2024 a large number of new Special Education Needs Coordinators (SENCOs) started work across Wirral’s early years settings, primary and secondary schools, and colleges.

An attendance boosting programme is helping children and young people in one of Wirral's most disadvantaged areas to stay in school and succeed.

More than 80 Wirral schools participate in the Eco Schools programme, which is run by the environmental charity, Keep Britain Tidy.

Robots are being used to support children who experience issues with attending school for emotional reasons to return to the classroom – virtually.

During a meeting of the Local Area SEND Partnership Board (22 October 2024) members were advised that another of the ten areas identified for improvement had made good progress and could now be considered “business as usual”.
