Have your say on the future of green wheelie bin collections

Residents are now being invited to share their views as a public consultation on the future of green bin collections gets underway.

The consultation seeks feedback on a proposal to move green wheelie bin collections from every two weeks to every three weeks.

The proposal follows the introduction of weekly food waste collections across Wirral. With food waste now collected separately every week, many households are putting less waste into their green bin.

The council wants to understand whether residents think a move to three-weekly green bin collections could work, what support they may need if the proposal goes ahead, and whether there are alternative options that should be considered.

As part of the consultation, residents can provide feedback on:

  • The proposal to move green bin collections to every three weeks
  • Any support they may need if the changes were introduced
  • Alternative options or suggestions for consideration

If three-weekly collections were introduced, residents with medical waste, households with more than six people, and eligible households with two or more children in disposable nappies would still be able to apply for a larger green bin.

The consultation is now live, and residents are encouraged to take part and share their views.
