Half-term classes help children ride with cycling confidence
Is your child currently on their way to learning to ride a bike? Then they can get one step closer this half-term by becoming confident on a balance bike.
Balance bikes are a pedal-free training bicycle designed for young children to learn the core skills of balance and steering before moving to a standard pedal bike.
Bikeability classes will take place during half-term at The Oval Leisure Centre in Bebington on Monday 26 October and Friday 30 October (10am and 11am) and West Kirby Concourse on Thursday 29 October (10am and 11am). Sessions cost £8 can be booked through Active Wirral.
Classes are taught in a friendly environment, with qualified instructors on hand to help your child with the issues they may be having. There are also fun games and activities to enjoy.
The course was absolutely fantastic for both of us.
It really helped with his confidence and it helped to show me how best to support him when learning how to cycle.
The course was held in a friendly, safe space with other young budding cyclists. There were fun games for warm up and tailored support from the course organisers. By the end of the session, he was balancing confidently on the balance bikes.
This gave us both the confidence to remove his stabilisers from his home bike. We also removed the pedals from his home bike at first so that he could practice building on the skills that he picked up in the Bikeability course.
He is now fully cycling without stabilisers and with his pedals back on! I fully believe that the Bikeability course was the key to helping him to learn this vital lifelong skill. I am so proud of him and I am so happy that we signed up.
