Take part in a local poetry competition
As 2025 begins, why not start the year with a new hobby and try your hand at some poetry writing for The Christopher Salmon Foundation, in conjunction with Wirral Poetry Festival and Wirral Libraries.
The competition has been running for 15 years and was set up in memory of Chris Salmon, a pupil of Calday Grange Grammar School with a real passion for poetry.
The theme for this year’s competition is ‘Hope’.
Open to entrants under 19 years of age and being educated in Wirral, the competition is free to enter.
A £100 prize will be awarded to the winner of each of the following five age categories:
- Age 7 and under (KS 1)
- Age 8-11 (KS 2)
- Age 11-13 (KS 3)
- Age 14-16 (KS 4)
- Age 16-19 (in full time education)
Entries must be submitted using the official entry form which is available on the website or printed copies can be collected from any Wirral Library.
To submit your entry in another way, email chrissalmonpoetry@wirral.gov.uk or hard copies by post or by hand delivery.
