The latest in the successful series of Wirral Council’s innovative Youth Market is coming to Birkenhead on Saturday 13th December in the run up to Christmas – and it’s set to be the biggest yet.
A new plan, approved by the Children Young People and Education Committee on 26 November 2025, sets out a vision for how Wirral children in care and care leavers will be supported over the next three years.
A survey was launched in October giving residents the chance to have their say on potential changes to two assisted travel policies; the Home to School Transport for children aged 5 to 16 and the post-16 Transport Statement for older children and young people. Three out of four primary schools in the Rock Ferry and Birkenhead and Tranmere wards are seeing an increased number of children reaching Good Levels of Development in 2024 compared to 2019.
A partnership initiative is giving families and children with educational and health needs a safe space to connect with other carers and get practical and emotional support. Peer Support Groups were launched by Wirral Council earlier this year, with local charities The Positivitree and Koala North West, and are held in Family Hubs.
