Foster carers have been recognised for their exceptional contribution to the lives of the children they care for at the latest Wirral Foster Carer Appreciation Day.

Foster carers have been recognised for their exceptional contribution to the lives of the children they care for at the latest Wirral Foster Carer Appreciation Day.

Single foster carers and couples were among 40 attendees, some having only been fostering for a short time while others have been looking after Wirral’s children for more than 20 years.

Certificates were presented to foster carers with more than five and 10 years’ service, by the Chair of Wirral’s Children, Young People and Education Committee Cllr Sue Powell-Wilde.

In her opening speech at the event, Cllr Sue Powell-Wilde expressed her gratitude to all involved in fostering:

I know what it's like, I know the dedication and hard work that is needed to be a foster carer. I know the things that you have to go through, the challenges that you face. And all I can say is a huge thank you on behalf of Wirral Council.

I am extremely grateful for all our wonderful foster carers in Wirral, and it was a pleasure to attend the Appreciation Day giving me the opportunity to meet you and hear your stories.

As corporate parents we are committed to providing the highest standard of care to our looked after children. Wirral entrusts some of the borough’s most vulnerable children to our exceptional foster carers in the knowledge that they will receive a safe, secure, and stable home with care and affection for as long as they need it.

The Appreciation Day is a wonderful opportunity for Wirral Council to show how much we value your dedication and the huge contribution you make to our children.
