Wirral Youth Market is heading to West Kirby
Wirral Youth Market is heading to West Kirby this August Bank Holiday weekend, promising a colourful shopping experience and a chance to support a new generation of entrepreneurs, artists and performers.
Youth Markets have previously been held in Liscard, New Brighton and Birkenhead, showcasing the products of 98 young businesses and attracting more than 12,000 visitors between them.
The events - funded by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, through the city region’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) allocation - have proven to be a successful way of launching and growing new businesses. A number of previous stallholders have gone on to build successful ventures, as well as previous exhibitors such as Jelley Bakes and The Possible Kitchen being nominated for awards at the National Market Traders Federation.
The Leader of Wirral Council, Councillor Paula Basnett, said:
Wirral’s Youth Markets have been a big hit, offering young traders real-world experience, with fantastic sales, networking and exposure opportunities, and all with minimum outlay and risk.
“They have been great for shoppers and our town centres, too, providing a very different shopping experience which visitors and shoppers love, and generating extra footfall and linger-time for our established shopping centres.
Organisers are calling for young traders aged 16 to 29 to get in touch to apply for a FREE pitch - which includes tables and chairs under a smart gazebo - and to take advantage of the opportunity to showcase their products and services, or maybe test out a new business idea.
Applications are also encouraged from performers such as musicians, bands, dance groups and choirs, who would like to take to the event stage and showcase their talent. The short online application form for stall holders and performers to apply for a space at the event is available here.

Councillor Mike Wharton, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Cabinet Member for Business, Investment and Trade, said:
Wirral have a brilliant track record in using our UKSPF funding to organise these youth markets which have so far showcased the efforts of nearly one hundred young entrepreneurs. I’d recommend any budding young traders to grasp the opportunity and anyone in the West Kirby area to pop along on the day. Visitors will not only have a host of products to browse but will also be entertained by fantastic live performers.
The Youth Market will take place on the plaza area outside West Kirby Concourse from 10am – 4pm on Saturday 23 August and entry is FREE.
