Wirral destination is finalist in VisitEngland Awards for Excellence

Wirral's Eureka! Science + Discovery is a finalist in two categories in the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.

The Seacombe-based science museum which days out targeted at families with children aged 0-14 is nominated in two categories: New Tourism Business of the Year and the Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award.

It joins five other Liverpool city region businesses to be nominated, making this the the highest number ever for the region.

The finalists highlight the region's status as a world-class destination, showcasing the exceptional quality and diversity of tourism businesses across Liverpool, Southport, and Wirral.

Eureka! Science + Discovery opened in November 2022 and has been supported by a range of funders including Wirral Council, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and the Inspiring Science Fund.

Their success not only highlights individual excellence but strengthens our reputation as a premier UK destination. We're immensely proud of these businesses and wish them the very best at the awards ceremony in June.

The VisitEngland awards worked in collaboration with 21 local competitions, including the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards which celebrate excellence in hospitality and the exceptional quality and diversity of the region's booming visitor economy. The awards, organised by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority with support from the Liverpool City Region Destination Partnership (LCRDP), honour excellence throughout the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Liverpool City Region's Seven Finalists in the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence include:

  • B&B and Guest House of the Year: Sunnyside Guest House, Southport
  • Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award: Sunnyside Guest House, Southport
  • International Tourism Award: The Beatles Story
  • Large Visitor Attraction of the Year: Liverpool Football Club Tours & Experiences
  • Large Hotel of the Year: Titanic Hotel Liverpool
  • New Tourism Business of the Year: Eureka! Science + Discovery
  • Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award: Eureka! Science + Discovery

For over 30 years, the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence have recognised the very best of England's tourism industry, celebrating innovation, quality, and outstanding customer experiences. Following a rigorous selection process by industry experts, 52 national finalists, including the seven from Liverpool City Region, will now compete across sixteen categories at the awards ceremony on June 4 at the Brighton Dome Corn Exchange.
