Have your say on the future of St Werburgh’s

As well as helping attract more visitors to the town centre the ambitious plans being put forward for St Werbugh’s in Birkenhead aim to significantly increase leisure and residential opportunities.

Building on an earlier consultation with initial proposals for the area, and using the feedback and ideas from the public from that, a vision for this neighbourhood and a draft masterplan has been further developed for St Werburgh's.

In addition, following the previous consultation, the opportunity arose for the council to purchase the Pyramids shopping centre estate, presenting a major opportunity for shaping the town’s future and providing a new opportunity to review the St Werburgh’s proposals taking into account the larger building ownership area the council is now responsible for.

The proposals now being put forward include reducing the amount of unused space and buildings to help make the area feel more vibrant while also increasing the ease in moving across the town centre.

The masterplan aims to foster an amazing sense of arrival in the town centre, bringing forward new mixed neighbourhood with more homes and apartments, and creating a series of new high quality public squares and spaces.

Key to the masterplan will be delivering a new market, adjacent to the existing bus station, in the former Argos building in part of the Pyramids, which has been recently acquired by the council.
