A jobs fair aimed at recruiting people into the Early Years sector is taking place this month.

The recruitment event is designed to connect employers with individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young children and takes place on Tuesday 16th July from 3pm-7pm at The Hive, Birkenhead.

This project is funded from the Liverpool City Region’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) allocation, managed by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. The fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda, providing £2.6 billion of funding for local Investment by March 2025.

Many employers from the Early Years sector will be there, looking to meet both experienced professionals and new graduates who want to start a career with opportunities for growth.

Cllr Tony Jones, Chair of the Economy, Regeneration and Housing Committee, said:

This Jobs Fair is a fantastic opportunity for our community. The Early Years sector is vital for the development and wellbeing of our youngest residents, and we are committed to supporting employers in finding the skilled and dedicated workforce they need.

I’d encourage anyone interested in this field, whether you are an experienced practitioner or just starting out, to attend and explore the opportunities available for a rewarding career.

There will be various job opportunities, including roles in nurseries, pre-schools, and primary schools. Employers will offer positions that require different levels of experience, making this event accessible to everyone. School teaching assistant positions as well as supporting Roles like midday school supervisors and school crossing patrols will also be available.

Residents who start working in childcare from April 2024 to March 2025 can also learn about a £1,000 cash incentive they may be eligible for.

Jane Molyneux, from Kids Planet Day Nurseries, said:

We are delighted to be attending the jobs fair and meeting people who want to join our sector, which has a wealth of opportunity and progression. We have three nurseries in Wirral and we are interested in meeting people who have experience as well as those who are looking for their first role in the industry as we can offer full training.
