West Kirby Concourse swimming pool reopening this weekend
Wirral swimmers will once again be able to enjoy use of West Kirby Concourse swimming pool as it is set to reopen on Saturday 28 June – following a scheme of repair and improvement works.
The extensive programme of work has included thorough investigations and a full ceiling replacement, following its initial closure in March 2025.
The reopening of the pool at West Kirby Concourse is just in time for summer and the school holidays.
I’d like to thank swimmers and clubs for their patience, along with staff at the Concourse who have responded to enquiries from the public since this emergency work started, as well as staff in our other leisure centres who have welcomed some of the displaced swimmers.
Public swimming resumes at 9am on Saturday 28th June with swimming lessons returning from Monday 30th June.
While the pool was closed, the following works were carried out:
- Draining of the pool to complete inspection
- Large amount of scaffolding erected
- Safety checks carried out
- Removal of existing suspended ceiling tiles and frame
- Removal of redundant light fittings
- Installation of brand new ceiling, in line with current safety regulations
- Cleaning of ventilation ductwork and vents
- Removal of scaffolding
- Deep clean of pool and poolside areas
- Repairs to poolside lockers
- Repairs to pool plant equipment
- Refilling of the pool
Invigor8 members are reminded that they can access a range of swimming pools at leisure centres across Wirral as part of their membership.
