Adapted court and free Badminton sessions available in Bidston
An indoor tennis court has been adapted to offer residents more variety in the sports they can play.
The court, at Bidston Sports and Activity Centre, will now allow residents the chance to play both badminton and tennis.
Cllr Ann Ainsworth, Vice-Chair of Tourism, Communities, Culture and Leisure committee for Wirral Council, said:
Converting one of our existing courts into a multi-use facility lets more residents make use of the space, stay active and try out new things.
Forming and maintaining a consistent exercise habit can be a lot easier when you’re enjoying the workout you’re doing. So I’d encourage residents to come and try it out.
The court, which can accommodate four badminton games at a time, at certain times throughout the week, is now open for casual bookings which can be made online, over the phone or on site.
To encourage residents to access badminton, learn a new sport and play with like minded people, Active Wirral are offering 12 weeks of Badminton sessions funded by Badminton England. Sessions are free of charge and start from Saturday 11th January 2025.
No Strings Badminton is a national programme to encourage people to try the sport in a friendly and inclusive environment. The sessions are suitable for complete beginners and all abilities aged 12+.
