Wirral Libraries Wings Selfie Trail

If you’re looking for something to do this Autumn, you’re in luck, there’s a wide range or activities, shows and events to suit people of all ages.

Wirral Libraries are hosting their very own Wings Selfie Trail at libraries across Wirral. Simply take a selfie in front of the wing artwork at your local library and post your angelic photo on social media using the hashtag #WirralLibWings. There are prizes to be won for the best photos, including a Family Swim Pass from Wirral Council. Central Libraries will also be hosting a Wings Treasure Hunt for the chance to win an activity book and coloured pencils.

Staying on the trail theme, Birkenhead Priory is launching its Winter Nature Trail from 1st November. We all know the Priory is the oldest standing building in Merseyside but did you know it has great nature too? Allow Gilbert Greyhound, one of the Priory’s beloved greyhounds, to take you to the best sites. Younger visitors can also enjoy a Find Gilbert trail. There will also be a Children’s Nature Day on Saturday 4 November from 12pm to 3pm, featuring owls from the Moonshine Owl Sanctuary and an observational bee hive. For more information visit the Birkenhead Priory website.

Visit Eureka! Science + Discovery during October half term for Bothersome Beasts and their Bad Reputations! There will be chance to get a selfie with Sally the Spider, a 4.3 meter house spider with 20cm fangs, as well as a chance to learn about skulls, skeletons and skins, take part in a ‘survival of the slimiest’ workshop, beastly facepainting and much more. To find out more, visit Eureka's website.

Floral Pavilion has a diverse mix of live shows during November, including some of your favourite 80s icons, Paul Young (Nov 1), Hue and Cry (Nov 24) and Kenny Thomas (Nov 26). There will be tributes to some of the world’s most iconic singers too, with Bootleg Blondie (Nov 10), Bowie Experience (Nov 18) and Whitney - Queen of the Night (Nov 28) not to be missed. The world’s longest running play, Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, will be running from Nov 6-11, children can join Peppa on Peppa Pig’s Fun Day Out on Nov 4 and 5 and marvel at the world’s most famous ballet Nutcracker on Nov 16. There is still chance to see Jonathan Cooper’s photography exhibition at Williamson Art Gallery, featuring photos from West Kirby waterfront. Be quick though, the exhibition closes on Saturday 28 October. While you’re at the Williamson, be sure to check out the abstract creations of Berlin based artist Helene Appel and Mark Davenant’s ‘Outsiders’ exhibition, capturing snapshots of homelessness in modern Britain.
