First tree planting event of the season is a tree-rific success with 810 trees planted – and even more trees are set to be planted over the coming weeks with further events open to all.

The council aims to double the tree canopy cover by 2030 by planting more trees – and with the support of volunteers it is well on its way to achieving that goal.

Following the first successful community planting event, which saw attendance from 30 volunteers and the planting of over 800 trees, there are many more events to come that residents can get involved in.

The next events take place on:

  • Trees for Climate woodland planting at Eastham Country Park on Saturday 3 February
  • Trees for Climate woodland planting at Oxton Fields on Saturday 24 February
  • Orchard planting at Kempson Terrace on Thursday 29 February
  • Orchard planting at Heygarth Road Greenspace on Saturday 9 March

To get involved, residents can register interest through the council’s website.
