Buenos Dias, Birkenhead! You’re invited to a celebration of Latin American Culture
Birkenhead is set to sway to a Latin beat on Sunday 18 August, as Wirral’s Latin American Culture Day comes to the town’s Future Yard venue.
The free event for all the family promises to be a bright and colourful celebration of Latin American diversity, showcasing authentic music, dance, arts and crafts, a Columbian face painter, and workshops including the Wirral-based Chilean circus artist, Angelo with Magical Circus, and A4 Arts colouring club from the Belvedere Centre.
The continent’s iconic music will be at the heart of the festivities, with performances by Mexican folkdance group Colibri, Tacho Trio from Peru, Salvadorean Singer Nelson Gomez, and the amazing Colombian artists KillaBeatMaker.
Alongside the live music, DJ Freddy Perez from Costa Rica will be playing a range of tunes from across Latin America throughout the afternoon.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy a taste of Bogota, Quito and Lima, from the food stalls that will be serving tasty Latin favourites, including El Rincon de Betty and Inca Foods.
Curated by Latin American creative specialists LUMA CREATIONS, the event is supported as part of Wirral’s Borough of Culture 2024 celebrations, and runs from 12 Noon until 4pm at Future Yard, 75 Argyle Street, Birkenhead, CH41 6AB.
