General election results in Wirral

Counting of votes took place at Wirral Tennis and Sports Centre in Bidston after polls closed on Thursday 4 July.

Labour’s Alison McGovern won the vote in Birkenhead with 22,468 votes, and Matthew Patrick was elected in Wirral West with 23,156 votes. The Wallasey constituency was the last to be announced at around 5:15am, and Dame Angela Eagle was re-elected in Wallasey with 24,674 votes.

Votes for the Ellesmere Port & Bromborough constituency were counted in Cheshire West, with Labour’s Justin Madders elected with 24,186 votes.

A local council by-election also took place in Liscard, with Labour’s Graeme Cooper elected with 3,630 votes.
