No appointments needed: service offers vaccine catch ups this month

Throughout June, Wirral residents can catch up on their missed vaccinations thanks to a roving health service.

Popping up in locations across the borough each week, the Living Well Service will be offering all routine vaccinations, including MMR (which vaccinates against measles, mumps and rubella) to adults and children.

The service offers health checks and wider wellbeing guidance at the heart of communities. It will also provide Spring COVID-19 immunisations to eligible people.

The Living Well Service, which provides ‘drop in’ health clinics by bus, is built on the principles of bringing the right services to local communities and helping reduce barriers to accessing care.

Residents can access the Living Well bus at any of the following pop ups:

• Saturday 1st June - Floral Pavilion, Marine Promenade, New Brighton, Wallasey CH45 2JS from 10.30am – 4pm.
• Thursday 6th June - Rock Ferry Library / One Stop Shop, 259 Old Chester Road, Rock Ferry, CH42 3TD from 10.30am – 4pm.
• Friday 14th June - Tesco Extra, Bidston Link Road, Birkenhead CH43 7AA from 10.30am – 4pm.
• Monday 17th June - Age UK Wirral, Meadowcroft Wellbeing Hub, 304 Spital Road, Bromborough, CH62 2DE from 10.30am – 4pm.
• Tuesday 25th June - Wirral Multicultural Organisation, 111 Conway Street., Birkenhead CH41 4AF from 10am – 4pm.
• Saturday 29th June - Birkenhead town centre, between ASDA and Primark, Grange Road from 10.30am – 4pm.

With no appointments necessary, the service’s clinical team will also offer physical health checks and mental health support, alongside vaccinations. 

Walk-in MMR vaccines in community pharmacies

Townfield Pharmacy in Birkenhead is offering walk-in vaccines to children aged 5 to 11 who missed earlier doses of MMR, as part of a regional scheme. GP practices will also be able to refer patients for MMR vaccination in a pharmacy.
