Wirral properties partially closed due to anti-social behaviour
Wirral Council's Anti-Social Behaviour Team, in partnership with Merseyside Police and Regenda Homes, has taken action to tackle anti-social behaviour and drugs offences taking place in two flats in Waverley Court, Price Street, Birkenhead.
Partial Closure Orders have been imposed on the properties in response to complaints, which included drug dealing from both properties, serious acts violence that had occurred from inside these properties, allegations of criminal damage as well as residents being disturbed at all times of the day and night due to the amount of individuals attempting to enter Waverley Court to purchase drugs.
Despite previous warnings given by the landlord Regenda, local residents continued to suffer from the anti-social behaviour.
Working together with Merseyside Police and Regenda Homes - and as a direct result of the continuing and increasing amount of complaints that continued to be received - a collective decision was taken to apply for a Closure Order on both properties to prevent the problems from escalating further and to provide the community with some much needed respite from the problems that they had been subjected to for a prolonged period of time.
Wirral ASB Team issued a Closure Warning to both tenants on the 24 October 2024 but despite this, the behaviour continued.
A partial Closure Order was granted on the 15 May 2025 by Sefton Magistrates’ Court on both properties. The terms of the Closure Orders permit both tenants to remain in their respective properties, any other individuals found to be in either of these properties who have not been authorised to be there are liable to arrest.
The terms of the order prohibits any person found in these properties with no legal entitlement to be there are subject to being arrested and are liable for a prison sentence of up to six months or a fine of up to £5,000 or both. The closure will remain in place for a period of three months with the option to extend for a further 3 months if considered appropriate.
