Wirral’s Annual Christmas Gift Appeal gets underway
Wirral Council's annual Christmas gift appeal launches today (Friday 24th November) with the aim of bringing some festive sparkle and joy to local children who may otherwise miss out this year.
Launching the appeal, the Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Jerry Williams, said:
Christmas is a wonderful time of year for many people, but not all children get to open piles of presents on the big day. For lots of reasons, including financial hardship or a lack of close family ties, some can’t look forward to receiving many, or even any gifts at all.
But I am confident that the kindness and generosity of residents and local businesses will once again ensure that hundreds of local children and young people will receive at least one gift this year.
Organisers are asking residents, businesses, and Council staff to donate different types of gifts to ensure presents are available for the children of all ages – from babies up to 17 year olds – and have suggested:
- Toys for 0-12 years year olds
- Pyjamas for 0-17 year olds
- Gifts for teenagers such as toiletries, perfume, aftershave, make-up, socks and jewellery
- Selection boxes
- One4All gift cards (available online and from Post Offices)
- Medium and large Christmas gift bags
Public drop-off points for new, unwrapped donations (so appropriate gifts can be matched to their recipient) are open until midday on Monday 18 December at:
