The popular lake in Ashton Park, West Kirby is undergoing a restoration programme beginning this week.

Wirral Council has commissioned Ebsford Environmental Ltd to carry out works which will include desilting of the lake, grading of the lake bed and disposal off site of items that shouldn’t be in the lake.

The aim is to improve water quality within the lake, which will in turn enhance the biodiversity of the area for the local wildlife and the community.

Work begins on Monday 6th November and Ebsford have already written to nearby residents to inform them about what is happening and explain the impact on car parking and access around the park while the three-week programme of works is taking place.

In addition, there is a community event taking place at the Ashton Park pavilion, opposite the bowling green next to the lake, where there will be specialists on hand to answer any questions visitors might have and about the works and the improvements it will bring for wildlife and the community. The event takes place on Saturday 11th November between 9am and 1pm and there will be refreshments available.
