Community groups in Wirral are invited to access free carbon literacy training in the coming weeks.

The training opportunities are just one part of activities taking place in recognition of Carbon Literacy Action Day (CLAD) on 4th December.

There are 30 places available for Wirral residents who are keen to be involved and the training covers everything from the science behind the climate crisis to the impacts of carbon emissions and how to reduce your footprint, both individually and collectively through everyday actions.

The training is made up of two half day sessions, over two different days between Monday 27th November and Friday 1st December. Attendees will need to complete both sessions and a submit a pledge to become carbon literate.

A range of dates and times are available and people can reserve a place here

This limited-time offer is thanks to a partnership between Energy Projects Plus, Faiths4Change, Wirral Environmental Network and the Carbon Literacy Project, with funding from Wirral Council.

Those taking part will join a growing network of people taking carbon literacy training in Wirral.

To help fulfil its commitment to become a net carbon zero council by 2030, Wirral Council is continuing to train staff in carbon literacy to ensure they can effectively reduce the carbon impacts of their role.

After becoming a Bronze Carbon Literate Organisation in 2022, the Council is working towards Silver accreditation and as a further part of CLAD celebrations, will be holding its first in-house training session for senior managers.
