Future of adult day services to be considered by committee
The future of adult day services in Wirral will be discussed by councillors at the next Adult Social Care and Public Health Committee, as part of ongoing work to make sure support continues to meet the needs of residents now and in the future.
A report will be presented to committee on 15 September, setting out proposals for how adult day services could develop over the coming years.
Adult day services support adults with care and support needs by providing activities, opportunities to socialise, learn new skills and receive specialist support. The service currently supports 315 people across Wirral and operates from eight sites across the borough.
The report has been developed following a 12-week public consultation which received more than 600 responses from people who use services, carers, families, staff and local organisations.
The consultation explored a range of possible approaches for the future of day services and gathered feedback on what matters most to people who use them. Responses highlighted the importance of social connections, trusted relationships, familiar routines and safe, supportive environments.
The report also looks at future challenges and opportunities for the service, including changing expectations around support, helping people live independently, and ensuring services remain fit for the future.
