The Floral Pavilion stage burst into life this weekend with rave reviews for the opening performances of Sleeping Beauty, with exciting news announced for next year’s panto.

The annual pantomime is a festive tradition for families across Wirral and with 50 performances until Sunday 4 January, it’s the theatre’s biggest production of the year.

Ahead of the opening curtain, audiences had been promised a spectacular show and Sleeping Beauty certainly delivered, with Roy from Wirral saying: “We took 3 generations of family and everyone had a wonderful experience. This really kicked off our Christmas!”

Heather from Chester commented: “We have been for many years and this was the best show yet! The performers were outstanding, the kids loved the current pop songs and the adults loved the jokes.”

And Jane, a first-time visitor from North Wales agreed: “I thought the whole show was fabulous! The actors, the costumes, the sets, the musicians - everything was top notch. It was the best panto I've seen for a long time.” Sleeping Beauty delivers jaw-dropping sets, dazzling costumes, toe-tapping tunes, and laugh-out-loud comedy, and it comes with a seriously sparkling cast led by Eternal and Loose Women’s Kelle Bryan, CBBC favourite Cleo Demetriou, and panto favourites Sean Jones and Quinn Patrick as Lester the Jester and dame Nanny Nora.

Audiences can see what all the fuss is about for the very special price of just £10 per ticket at tomorrow’s matinee performance – Tuesday 9 December at 1:30pm. Bookers should use the code SB10TO to claim tickets.

And because Christmas magic should be for everyone, there’s even more good news:

· Free bus travel for kids thanks to Arriva – children aged 16 and under can travel to the show and back for free on buses to the Floral Pavilion when accompanied by a fare-paying adult (just show your panto ticket to the driver).

· The annual BSL performance is this Saturday 13 December at 7pm.

· The annual relaxed performance is on Sunday 4 January at 1:00pm.

And the magic doesn’t stop there. Although Sleeping Beauty has only just opened, we’re thrilled to announce next year’s show will take panto to a whole new world… with Aladdin!

Full details will be announced in the coming months but tickets are on sale now, with Sleeping Beauty ticket holders offered the opportunity to get ahead and rebook for next year with prices frozen at this year’s rates until 11 January.

Pauline Campbell, Venue Manager at the Floral Pavilion, said:

We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome new and returning visitors to Sleeping Beauty which is our most magical pantomime yet. You can really see from the quality why every panto is 12 months in the making and we’re excitedly working on bringing Aladdin to New Brighton in 2026.

There’s still time to make your Christmas sparkle with an outing to Sleeping Beauty, though tickets are now very limited for some performances. Book at floralpavilion.com or call the box office on 0151 666 0000.
