Bluey, Baby Giggles and Brilliant Advice: Start for Life Event a Hit with Families

Families from across Wirral came together for an afternoon of fun, learning and laughter at the Start for Life family event, a free drop-in, packed with activities, expert advice and support for anyone raising children aged 0–5.

Held at Cub and Calf in West Kirby, a Satellite Family Hub and a part of Wirral’s Family Hub network, the event brought trusted services and information right into the heart of the community, helping families feel more confident in giving their little ones the best start in life.

And it wasn’t just the grown-ups who enjoyed it, the show was well and truly stolen by Bluey, who delighted young children with story time, dancing and plenty of chances for a cheerful wave and photo.

With parents, carers and grandparents by their side, children explored soft play, got creative with crafts, and joined in fun sessions, while adults chatted to local professionals about everything from safer sleep and looking after little teeth to infant mental health and healthy eating.

The lively information marketplace gave families the chance to find out more about local services and ask questions in a relaxed, welcoming setting. Visitors included teams from CAMHS, midwifery, Public Health, Speech and Language, SENDLO, Family Toolbox, and community charities like Koala North West and Positivitree.

Around 75 families attended throughout the afternoon, including parents, carers and grandparents. Whatever their needs, families went away with helpful advice, useful contacts and ideas to support their child’s early development and wellbeing.
