Enthusiastic volunteers are being asked to step in and help make this year’s 151st Open at Hoylake the best yet in Wirral.

The Championship takes place from the 16th to the 23rd July and Wirral Council, in collaboration with the organiser of The Open, R&A, are looking to recruit a wide range of reliable, friendly and approachable volunteers from across Wirral.

These will act as local, off course ambassadors during the Championship and will welcome visitors to Hoylake & West Kirby, provide directions and offer information about the local area.

The 151st Open Golf Championship Ambassadors Programme (off course) will also provide a unique opportunity for participants to develop new skills while showing visitors what a beautiful place Wirral is, as well as meeting likeminded people.

There will be multiple six hour volunteer shifts available throughout the week ranging between 6.30am and 9pm as the start and finish times vary throughout the days of the Championship.

Mark Camborne, Wirral Council’s Assistant Director, Neighbourhood Safety & Transport, said: “This is a great opportunity to volunteer and help showcase Wirral as we host one of the biggest sporting events in the world.

“We will see tens of thousands of visitors attending every day of the Championship and we need local people with their local knowledge to help them make the most of their visit to our borough.”

To take part and register for the 151st Open Golf Championship Ambassadors Programme (off course) visit website: https://wirral-council.teamkinetic.co.uk

Please complete registration and then you will have an opportunity to book an Induction/Training Session.  There are four to choose from. Once you have attended one of these sessions, you will then have access to book your own shifts.
