Our amazing new pantomime is now underway at the Floral Pavilion and already thousands have booked their seats to enjoy The Further Adventures of Peter Pan – The Return of Captain Hook.

The pantomime is one the absolute highlights of the Floral calendar and there are still some tickets left, with prices from just £15.

There are shows right through ‘til January 5 being put on by our stellar cast this panto season – but the magic is not all on stage and these numbers give a glimpse behind the scenes of what goes into making the Panto a special event each and every time:

There are 51 shows each 2 ½ hours which means more than 127 hours of stage time, more than five whole days.

Last year, like most years, we saw 5,000 ice creams sold, 1,500 bags of popcorn and 2,500 packs of chocolates.

There were 1,900 packs of crisps and 500 sweetpots, while little ones went away practising their magic with 2,500 sparkling toy wands and swashbuckling swords.

Meanwhile 5,800 teas and coffees were served, along with 1,400 beers.

During the show last year the audience reaction was measured at 140 decibels (for comparison human speech is 60-70 db, a lawnmower 90 dB, 120 dB is the volume of a jet plane taking off).
