Beauty sleeps as comedy wakes - Panto fave returns to Floral Pavilion
Christmas at the Floral Pavilion is set to sparkle brighter than ever before, as the theatre partners once again with the celebrated UK Productions to present a pantomime spectacular that promises to enchant, dazzle and delight.
This year’s festive centrepiece is the timeless fairytale Sleeping Beauty, reimagined in a glittering production bursting with comedy, music, and breathtaking theatrical magic.
Returning is the ever-popular Sean Jones, who reprises his role as the riotous ‘Lester the Jester’.
Renowned for his razor-sharp wit, magnetic stage presence and impeccable comedic timing, Sean is set to bring a whirlwind of fun and festive mischief to the stage, much to the delight of audiences, young and old.
"We are delighted to welcome Sean back to our pantomime cast," said Pauline Campbell, Venue Manager at the Floral Pavilion. “Sean’s incredible talent and family audience appeal will undoubtedly make this year's Sleeping Beauty an unforgettable theatrical experience for families across our region.”
After the resounding success of last year’s The Further Adventures of Peter Pan – The Return of Captain Hook, which earned an average audience rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars, expectations are high, and rightly so. This year’s production promises to go even further, with a creative team determined to deliver the most visually stunning and musically rich pantomime the theatre has ever staged.
Sean Jones said: “New Brighton audiences are the best in the land - louder, lovelier and just as bonkers as me! I’m absolutely buzzing to be back causing chaos as Lester the Jester from just outside Chester.
“Sleeping Beauty has got it all: a snoring princess, a villain with serious attitude, a dame who defies logic - and me, leaping about like I’ve had three bags of Haribo and no supervision. Honestly, if you miss this one, you’ll be the one asleep! Get your tickets, grab your nan, and let’s make some magical mayhem!”
From the very first moment, audiences will be transported into an immersive world of enchantment.
The production will feature lavish set design, radiant lighting, and high-energy choreography, all wrapped in a musical soundtrack filled with showstopping hits and toe-tapping surprises. Every element, from intricate costume design to thrilling special effects, has been crafted to create a pantomime experience that is as technically dazzling as it is emotionally uplifting.
“If you thought last year’s show was spectacular, this year we’re taking things to a whole new level,” said Martin Dodd, Producer at UK Productions.
“Sleeping Beauty is set to be the most magical and thrilling pantomime we’ve ever staged. We’ve dialled everything up - from the breathtaking choreography and stunning lighting design to the jaw-dropping sets and a soundtrack bursting with musical energy. It’s a feast for the senses and an unmissable theatrical treat. Audiences are in for something truly special this Christmas. You don’t want to miss it!”
At the heart of the tale is the beautiful Princess, cursed by the wicked Carabosse to fall into an endless sleep on the eve of her 18th birthday. Only true love’s kiss can break the spell - but not before a race against time unfolds, filled with hilarious twists, magical intervention, and the antics of one very unpredictable jester. It’s a story of hope, heroism, and the enduring power of love - told through a production that bursts with warmth, colour, and festive charm.
With performances running from 6 December 2025 to 4 January 2026, Sleeping Beauty is shaping up to be the theatrical event of the season. Tickets are already on sale, starting at just £15, and with demand expected to be higher than ever, EARLY BOOKING is strongly advised.
This Christmas, don’t settle for anything less than magical. Sleeping Beauty at the Floral Pavilion is a glittering, laugh-filled celebration for the whole family, and it might just be the most unforgettable show you’ll see all year.
