No changes to bin collections for 26 August bank holiday
There are no changes to bin collections for the upcoming bank holiday on 26 August.
Collections scheduled for Monday 26 August will go ahead as normal. Please have your bin out for collection by 7am on your collection day.
If you are unsure of your collection day, please check online.
Remember what can and can’t go in your bin
If we get the weather for it and you are using the weekend to enjoy a BBQ, remember not to place it in your green wheelie bin until it has fully cooled down.
Batteries should also not be put in your bin, they need to be disposed of separately at the tip, or at a dedicated recycling point which can be found at most supermarkets.
Batteries can often be hidden in items – so make sure to check before you throw it away as if put in the green bin by accident, they can cause fires in our collection vehicles with the heat that is produced when the waste is compacted.
If you need to use Wirral’s Household Waste Recycling Centres (the tips) - they are still open for their summer hours, from 8am until 8pm, until the end of September.
The centres are located at:
- Bidston – Wallasey Bridge Road, Birkenhead – CH41 1EB
- Clatterbridge – Mount Road, Clatterbridge – CH63 4JZ
- West Kirby – Greenbank Road – CH48 5HR
For more information about what can an can’t go in your bins, visit the council’s website.
