Food waste collections: a few quick reminders

Food waste

Since the second phase of food waste collections began on 27 July, we're sharing a few simple reminders to help make sure your food waste is collected successfully.

Check your start date
Before using your food waste caddy, check the sticker on the lid. This tells you when your collections start. For example, if your sticker says 17 August, you should start filling your caddy from 10 August.

Put your caddy out every week
Food waste is collected weekly on the same day as your grey and green bin collections.

Have it out by 7am
Food waste is collected by a different vehicle, so collection times may be different to those you're used to. Please make sure your caddy is out by 7am on collection day.

Use a liner bag
All food waste should be placed in a liner bag before being put into your outdoor caddy. Food waste presented loose in the caddy will not be collected.

Keep your small kitchen caddy indoors
Only put your larger outdoor caddy out for collection. Your smaller kitchen caddy should stay inside your home.

Lock your caddy
Lift the handle upright to lock the lid before putting it out for collection.

Put it next to your bin
Place your food waste caddy on the ground next to your grey or green bin. Please don't place it on top of, behind or in front of your bins.

Need more liners?
Tie one of your last liners to the handle of your locked outdoor caddy and a replacement roll will be provided.
