Engagement programme launched on three travel schemes
Residents are being invited to help shape the future of three key transport routes.
Funded by Active Travel England, this engagement programme will set out to understand from residents, businesses and users how the routes can be improved to make travel safer, easier and more attractive for everyone.
The three areas under review are:
- Arrowe Park Road (Woodchurch Road to Thingwall Road East roundabout)
- Birkenhead Road (Kelvin Road to Eureka Roundabout)
- Price Street (Beaufort Road to Argyle Street)
The programme aims to gather and understand local views, issues and new ideas for improving access by all modes of transport to busy destinations like Arrowe Park Hospital, Seacombe Ferry Terminal / Eureka museum, and shops, businesses and attractions in Birkenhead town centre.
Mott MacDonald and PLACED have been appointed to lead consultation and co-design activities, including hosting workshops, face-to-face sessions and online engagement via the Have Your Say platform.
The first phase runs from 26 January to 15 March 2026 with further public engagement planned for summer.
This work is important as it will help us reach more people with the plans. Hopefully we will get feedback from as many different individuals and groups as possible so we can ensure more residents’ views are represented.
The schemes are about improving where we live and commute, creating nicer, safer places to live and travel around and giving all of us more choice in how we move about.
The findings will be considered by the Environment, Climate Emergency and Transport Committee later this year and, subject to any potential improvements being identified, will be used to support future funding bids.
