Statement from Wirral Council Leader, Cllr Paul Stuart

I'm sure I speak for everyone in Wirral when I say I am deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic events in Southport yesterday.

Along with other councils across Merseyside, we have lowered the flags on our town halls in Wallasey and Birkenhead, to half-mast as a mark of support and compassion. Last night, we also held a minute’s silence during the full council meeting.

My heartfelt thoughts and condolences go out to the victims, their families, and loved ones during this difficult time.
