Visitors to Vale Park can now enjoy a unique new attraction celebrating the park's heritage and the dedication of local volunteers.

Vale Park Volunteers 2026 unveiled a replica Victorian post box, complete with a handcrafted crocheted topper that will be changed each month to reflect seasonal events and community occasions.

The volunteer group, which was formed earlier this year and helped organise celebrations marking the iconic bandstand's 100th anniversary, worked with Wirral Council to bring the project to life and ensure it can be viewed safely by the public.

The post box was created by a 3D printer, while volunteer Julie, a keen knitter, has taken on the task of producing the decorative toppers.

The first design celebrated Halloween, while the latest display commemorates Remembrance Day.

This is a small project, but it gives people a taste of what is to come in the park.

Julie previously created crocheted toppers for a post box on Seabank Road, but some were vandalised. The replica post box in Vale Park is protected behind a fence and covered by CCTV, which gave her the confidence to start creating them again.

We knew it would bring a lot of enjoyment to visitors and the response so far has been fantastic.

The new feature joins popular attractions including the Fairy Garden and Robot Village, further enhancing the park's appeal for visitors of all ages.

To celebrate the unveiling, volunteers organised a small community gathering around the new addition.

It is a great example of what can be achieved when people come together with the same goal.

We genuinely care about our community and want to help make the park an even better place to visit.

We have lots more plans for Vale Park. Any money we raise will be reinvested back into the park and used to benefit the community.

People come to New Brighton because of places like Vale Park. It is a special space, with a strong community spirit, fantastic events such as the summer bandstand concerts and incredible views across the promenade.

We want to build on that and create even more reasons for people to visit and enjoy the park.
