From parents for parents: can you help build strong families in Wirral?
Wirral’s Family Hubs are searching for passionate individuals to join the Empowering Parents Empowering Communities (EPEC) programme as Parent Group Leaders.
Are you a parent, carer or grandparent with a desire to make a difference? You can use your own parenting experiences to empower other parents, strengthen families and foster resilience in your community. This is your chance join the internationally acclaimed programme and help your community thrive.
What is EPEC?
EPEC is an internationally recognised, evidence-based parenting programme where parents help parents. It focuses on practical tools to help families develop resilience, manage everyday challenges and help foster positive relationships between parents and children. It’s a chance to inspire, connect and create lasting change right in the heart of your community.
As a Parent Group Leader, you’ll receive full training and support to deliver the Being a Parent Course to parents in Wirral. The course is designed for parents and carers of children aged 2-11 and focuses on:
- Building family resilience and managing everyday stress
- Improving communication and emotional understanding between parents and children
- Encouraging positive behaviour and consistent routines
- Promoting play and learning to support children’s development

What’s involved?
You will complete comprehensive training led by a specialised team that will be delivered over 10 weeks in Moreton. Training sessions will run on Tuesdays from 9:30am to 4:30pm and will be held during term time from January to April.
Once trained, you will run up to two courses per year, each requiring no more than four hours per week commitment. This will often be done in pairs with other Parent Group Leaders.
Throughout your journey as a Parent Group Leader, you’ll receive ongoing support from our dedicated EPEC Team to ensure you feel confident and capable and that your sessions are impactful, safe and effective.
