“It was love at first sight” – local family’s adoption story
Adopting their little girl Tilly was the best thing to happen to Wirral couple Daniel and Craig.
Daniel and Craig adopted their daughter Tilly through the Fostering for Adoption route. This option allowed the couple to foster first, settling their daughter into their family and home at just nine weeks old.
Foster for Adoption is a popular route for families to consider as it helps to minimise disruption while also supporting early bonding between child and parent.
Daniel and Craig said they did have a minor worry about whether being a same sex couple would impact the adoption process. But according to the doting parents:
That worry was crushed fairly quickly […] as soon as we met the social worker.
Having received training and support, they said the adoption process was reflective, and they both grew on a personal level.
