Foster families enjoy sunshine, smiles and a summer day to remember
There was plenty of laughter, fun and ice cream on the menu as foster families from across Wirral came together for the annual Fostering Summer Event.
Held at Oxton Cricket Club, the event brought foster carers, children and fostering staff together for an afternoon of outdoor games, activities and the chance to catch up with friends old and new.
Children spent the afternoon enjoying interactive games led by an entertainer, while families made the most of the sunshine and relaxed atmosphere. One of the biggest highlights of the day was a visit from local firefighters, who arrived with a fire engine for children to explore.
From climbing aboard the engine and trying out the equipment to taking photos and asking questions, there was plenty to keep everyone busy. The afternoon was rounded off with a visit from an ice cream van, providing a well-earned treat for children and carers alike.
Events like the Summer Fun Day are an important part of Wirral's fostering community, bringing families together, helping carers build connections and creating opportunities for children to enjoy new experiences and make lasting memories.
Councillor Stephen Bennett, Chair of Wirral Council's Children, Young People and Education Committee, said:
One of the wonderful things about fostering in Wirral is the sense of community that exists around our foster families.
Events like this give children the chance to have fun, make new friendships and create happy memories, while carers can connect with others who understand the rewards and challenges of fostering.
We're fortunate to have such dedicated foster carers in Wirral and we're always keen to hear from more people who might be interested in making a difference to a child's life.
