5 things for kids to do this Summer
Looking for ideas of ways to keep your kids entertained during the Summer holidays? Wirral is not short of fun-filled activities, ranging from award-winning parks and science museums to street art trails and tractor rides.
Here are five ideas to help you and your little ones get the most of the holidays.
1. Get down with nature
With more the 37 Green Flag Parks and miles of coastline, there’s plenty of places for your kids to explore this Summer. See how many castles, lighthouses and windmills they can spot, not to mention the diverse wildlife the peninsula has to offer. They will also love the tractor rides at Church Farm in Thurstaston or getting lost in the maze at Brimstage.
TIP: young people can celebrate the great oudoors with ‘Stories of Nature’, a programme of activities and workshops at Wirral Libraries, parks, nature reserves and the Floral Pavilion.
2. Run, jump and climb at Bidston Sports & Activity Centre
As well as a three storey Soft Play adventure area for children aged 7 and under to explore, the over-8s will love Tag Active, an exciting game involving climbing, running, balancing and collecting points. It’s a competitive way for children to try new skills, keep active and have fun! Tag Active costs £10 for three games but Teen Invigor8 members can play for free, as well as well as accessing gyms, pools and golf at leisure centres across Wirral, for just £17.50 a month. Soft Play is £8 per child (under 1 free).

3. Enjoy explosive experiments at Eureka!
Get ready for six action-packed weeks of science, stories, and seriously fun surprises at Eureka! Science + Discovery this Summer! Kids will love the explosive experiments of Professor Pumpernickel and Ray Bubbles bubble show is sure to amaze youngsters too. Kids can also discover the science of feeling great at KidzFit and take part in hands-on challenges in Make Create, bringing fairytales to life. Tickets for Eureka! Science + Discovery are £15.95 (£6.95 aged 1-2 and under 1’s are free) which act as yearly passes, so kids can be wowed again and again by the interactive science centre.
4. Make a splash in West Kirby
Holiday clubs at Wirral Watersports Centre give children aged 8-16 the chance to try their hand at sailing, raft building, paddleboarding and lots more. The fun-filled sessions run throughout August and are led by trained instructors and are a great way for kids to have an oar-some time on the lake. There are a number of options, ranging from two days (£120) to five days (£285). Wetsuits, buoyancy aids, and helmets are provided.

5. Have a day out in New Brighton
From giant dogs and giraffes, to Stormtroopers and Jedi Masters, see how many of the murals your kids can find in New Brighton’s street-art trail. Take them for a round of crazy golf at Championship Adventure Golf or an ice-cream along the beach, where they can see the lighthouse and fort.
