Families are invited to the launch of four more Family Hubs opening in the borough this January.

Wirral’s Family Hubs are based in the heart of communities and have been created to make services and support easily accessible to the people who need them.

The hubs provide a welcoming space and operate under a ‘single front door’ model, for families with children aged 0-19 (up to age 25 with SEND). They bring together existing family help services in one place to improve access to, and relationships between, families and the agencies who can help and support them.

The hubs focus on families, and every member of the family can be supported; from services and activities that help give babies a great start to life, to support for parents with parenting classes, midwifery, health visiting, infant feeding advice and perinatal mental health support, as well as advice on lifelong learning, employment and finances.

A friendly welcome awaits families at launches of the new hubs at:

  • Wirral Development Trust, which opens on Tuesday 16 January 2pm-4pm
  • Bromborough Children’s Centre, which opens on Wednesday 17 January 2pm-4pm
  • Grove Street Primary School, New Ferry, which opens on Tuesday 23 January 2pm-4pm
  • Ganneys Meadow, which opens on Wednesday 31 January, the launch will be in two sessions the first from 8.30am-10am and the second, 2pm-4pm

Councillor Sue Powell-Wilde, Chair of Wirral’s Children, Young People and Education Committee, said:

We opened four hubs last year and I am delighted that four more are opening this month. Investing in families to create better outcomes for children is one of the main priorities in the Wirral Plan.

By meeting families’ needs early on, we can help the whole family, whether that’s with ante or postnatal advice, children being better prepared to start school or support for parents with wellbeing, financial or parenting advice.

Wirral Council was awarded funding from the Department for Education’s Family Hub Transformation Fund to set up the new model of working. The hub model has been based on feedback from a series of interactive workshops with Wirral parents and carers. This means that services at each site will vary slightly, each hub will each offer the same core services – but there will also be extra support tailored to the needs of the local communities they serve.

The four new sites are in addition to four hubs that opened last year. Find your Family Hub at:
