Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority moves to its summer opening hours at the start of the month, meaning Household Waste Recycling Centres will be accessible from 8am to 8pm.

Recycling Centres accept a range of household materials, just some of the things you can recycle include:

  • Batteries
  • Cans
  • Cardboard
  • Garden clippings (or these can go in your brown garden waste bin if you are subscribed to this service)
  • Glass bottles
  • Wood
  • White goods (such as washing machines, fridges)
  • Food and drink cartons (including Pringles cans – as long as the lids are removed)
  • Clothes
  • Electrical items

You can check both www.recycleright.org.uk or www.merseysidewda.gov.uk for details of what can be accepted at your local tip.

Centres can still become extremely busy at peak times so plan your visit carefully and for residents with a van or large trailer, bookings can be made at www.merseysidewda.gov.uk.

    Tips in Wirral are at:

    • Bidston – Wallasey Bridge Road, Birkenhead, CH41 1EB
    • Clatterbridge – Mount Road, Clatterbridge, CH63 4JZ
    • West Kirby – Greenbank Road, CH48 5HR
