Regeneration programme moves forward in Liscard
Regeneration in Liscard is set to take a major step forward as work begins on developing detailed plans for improvements to the town centre.
A design team is set to be appointed to take the next stage of the Liscard Regeneration Programme forward, supporting the development of the scheme through to tender and delivery.
The commission will include the preparation of detailed designs, alongside the surveys, investigations and other preparatory work needed before construction can begin.
The overall budget for the public realm scheme is estimated to be £3.4 million, funded through the Local Regeneration Fund which was approved by the Council’s Economy, Regeneration and Housing Committee on 19 January 2026.
The plans to revitalise the town are backed by the Government’s Levelling Up Fund 3 programme, which includes a total investment of £10.78 million, and now part of the Local Regeneration Fund.
The public realm works will complement other progress being made in Liscard. This includes demolition of the former municipal building off Seaview Road in preparation for new housing on the site.
This is an important step forward in bringing real improvements to Liscard town centre, and will represent a major investment in the area. Liscard is one of our key retail locations and it’s great to see this support being delivered for local people and businesses.
The regeneration of area is guided by the Liscard Neighbourhood Framework which was the result of extensive engagement with the community.
The Neighbourhood Framework sets out a vision for a town that is more locally distinctive and more community focused, offering a significant opportunity to reshape Liscard whilst supporting its economic growth. It aims to improve the experience of residents, businesses and visitors and it identifies medium to long term improvements for the town centre and will guide how the council invests in the area.
