New Youth Market - Call for young entrepreneurs
The latest in the successful series of Wirral Council’s innovative Youth Markets is set to take place in the run up to Christmas.
The event will be held in the covered outside space at Birkenhead Market on Saturday, December 13, from 10am to 4pm.
Young traders aged Under 30 are now being urged to get in touch to apply for a FREE pitch - which includes tables and chairs under a smart gazebo - and to take advantage of the opportunity to showcase their products and services, or maybe test out a new business idea.
Applications are also encouraged from performers such as musicians, bands, dance groups and choirs, who would like to take to the event stage and showcase their talent.
Youth Markets have previously been held in Liscard, New Brighton, West Kirby and Birkenhead, showcasing the products of scores of young businesses and attracting more than 20,000 visitors between them.
The events - funded by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, through the city region’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) allocation - have proven to be a successful way of launching and growing new businesses.
A number of previous stallholders have gone on to build successful ventures, as well as previous exhibitors such as Jelley Bakes and The Possible Kitchen being nominated for awards at the National Market Traders Federation.
The Leader of Wirral Council, Councillor Paula Basnett, said:
Our Youth Markets have been incredibly successful, showcasing the talent and business acumen of our young entrepreneurs while also giving some of our town centres a real boost.
I hope we will see yet more young people joining in with this latest event, as well as others returning, and lots of shoppers supporting them and other local businesses.
